Cochituate Rail Trail
Natick Cochituate Rail Trail Advisory Committee

With freight service ending in 2006, the town of Natick filed for railbanking and created the Natick Cochituate Rail Trail Task Force, taking over the role previously assumed by the Natick Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee(NBPAC). This task force has already presented a preliminary report to the Board of Selectmen to negotiate with CSX to acquire the railroad right-of-way. In addition, upon recommendation by the task force, Town Meeting approved appropriation of funds for environmental testing, surveying and title research so the town can be best prepared to negotiate with CSX.

The Natick Cochituate Rail Trail Task Force is also focusing its efforts to meet with trail abutters, most of whom are residents. The task force wants to keep everyone informed and updated on the benefits and development of the trail.

Members of the Natick Cochituate Rail Trail Task Force include a Selectman, Deputy Town Administrator, members of the Planning Board, Financial Committee, Conservation Commission, Recreation and Parks Commission and the Natick Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. Residents are also represented on this committee with particular emphasis on representation of trail abutters. The task force meets frequently. Check the Task Force website for upcoming meetings.
